Notice of Race

 

1. ORGANISING AUTHORITY

The organizing authority will be "The Yacht Club of Egypt".

 2. VENUE

The venue will be Alexandria, Egypt

3. EVENT GRADING

The event is an ISAF graded event.

 4. THE PROVISIONAL PROGRAM IS:

(a) Race office opens from 16:00 hours of 29 September 2000.

(b) Registration will be from 16:00 until 22:00 hours of 29 September 2000 and September 30 from 0900 until 12 00.

(c) The Opening ceremony and Press Conference will be at 18:30 hours of 30 September 2000.

(d) The briefing will be at 1100- hours of 1 October 2000.

(e) Racing days will be from 1 to 6 October 2000.

(f) The time of the first race on 1 October will be 13:30 hours.

(g) The Prize Giving Dinner will be held at 19:-30- hours of 6 October 2000.

5. ACCOMODATION

Accommodation can be arranged at special rates in the following hotels. These rates include open buffet breakfast and taxes.

Helnan Palestine Hotel (5 Stars)

* About 45 minutes from the Club

Double US$ 35 PP

Single US$ 55

Cecil Hotel (4 Stars)

* About 5 minutes from the club

Double US$ 35 PP

Single US $ 60

Busses will depart our guests from the hotels to the club daily free of charge.

6.SKIPPERS ELIGIBILITY

(a)Skipper will be eligible to enter this event by completeing the registration-form.

(b) The designated skipper for 470 and Dragon Classes shall helm their boats at all times while racing, except in an emergency.

(c) To remain eligible a skipper shall confirm acceptance of invitation in writing, (fax or e-mail is acceptable) to be received before end of August 2000.

7. ENTRIES

The skipper shall be entered on completion of registration.

7.1 Entry Fee

A non-refundable entry fee of US $ 100 for each sailor or non-participant shall be paid to the organizing committee, as registration fee.

7.2 Damage deposit

(a) When registering for the event skippers shall pay a damage deposit of 100 US $ to cover damages and loss of equipment that can be attributed to team actions during the event.

(b)Deposist will be refunded at 20:00 hours on 6 October 2000.

8. RULES

The following rules shall govern the event:

(a) The current ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS),

(b) The Notice of Race, including amendments

(c) The Sailing Instructions (available at registration) and any amendments thereof.

(d) The Rules for the Handling of Boats or the class rules.

(e)  An international jury will be appointed, approved by the national authority.

9 BOATS AND SAILS

(a) The event will be sailed in Dragon , 470, Laser and optimist classes provided by the organizing Committee but competitors must have their own buoyancy aids and sails. In Dragon and 470 classes, sailors must bring their own trapeze harness. Laser and optimist sailors may use their own ropes.

(b) 8 Boats for the Dragon Class, 10 boats for the 470 Class, 45 boats for the Laser Class and 45 Boats in the Optimist Class will be provided

(c) Boats will be allocated by draw.

10 CREW (including skipper)

When a registered skipper is unable to continue in the event, the organizing authority may authorize a temporary substitute or other adjustment.

11 COURSES

The courses will be a triangle course for the Dragon class and trapezoidal course for the 470, Laser and Optimist classes.

12 ADVERTISING

The event will be classified as Category B in accordance with RRS Appendix G and approved by the national authority.

Prizes will be awarded as follows

Dragon fleet 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall.

470 Fleet 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall.

Laser fleet 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall.

Optimist Fleet 1st, 2nd , 3rd , 4th and 5th overall.

15.INVITATIONS

The organizer will cover accommodation and subsistence expenses of invited participants during the event.

Judges or helmsmen wishing to participate are required to apply to the organizing authority for an invitation before end of august 2000 and those applications are successful will be advised within 10 days of the application closing date.

The entry documents are as follows:

a. The entry form (enclosed).

b. A Judge or skipper photo and his sailing records.
